STOP CORROSION IN CONCRETE STRUCTURES
Corrosion of steel in concrete, often referred to as concrete cancer , is an electrochemical process in which reinforcing steel rusts due to the ingress of moisture, oxygen, and carbon dioxide (carbonation) or chlorides. Rust expands (4 to 6 times greater volume), leading to cracking and spalling of concrete. This process can be stopped or prevented by monitoring, maintenance, repair or cathodic protection.
As an alternative to steel reinforcement, corrosion-free fibre reinforcement can also be used.
The name SOLIDURA is composed of two core concepts: solid(solid, strong, reliable) and dura(sustainable, long-lasting). Together they express what SOLIDURA stands for: constructive certainty and sustainable protection — both technically and in collaboration.
SOLIDURA represents structural reinforcement and protection of concrete and steel structures against corrosion and degradation.
Cathodic protection prevents active corrosion of reinforcement in concrete. It is a controlled, technical solution that significantly extends the lifespan of infrastructure. Here, the name SOLIDURA reflects the essence of the system: solid and long-lasting protection of critical structures.
Glass fibre reinforcement (GFRP) provides a corrosion-free alternative to traditional steel reinforcement. Due to its high tensile strength, low weight, and complete corrosion resistance, glass fibre reinforcement fundamentally enhances the durability of concrete structures. It is not a retroactive repair solution, but a forward-looking choice in new construction or renovation. Here too, SOLIDURA is evident: building structures that are intrinsically stronger and more sustainable.
Together, these techniques form two complementary pillars:
Prevention of corrosion (glass fibre reinforcement)
Stopping and controlling existing corrosion (cathodic protection)
Both contribute to the same goal: extending lifespan and structural certainty.
SOLIDURA stands not only for technical sustainability but also for sustainable collaborations.
For engineers this means technically sound solutions, clear calculations, and a partner who collaborates in design and optimisation.
For contractors this means practical feasibility, support on site, and reliable planning.
For owners and managers this means transparency, long-term vision, and investment in future-proof infrastructure.
SOLIDURA positions itself as a specialist that translates complex corrosion and sustainability issues into clear, achievable, and reliable solutions — with a focus on quality, continuity, and mutual trust.
SOLIDURA: solid protection, sustainable collaboration.
CATHODIC PROTECTION
Cathodic protection of steel in concrete is a technique to prevent or stop corrosion of reinforcement.
MONITORING
Monitoring of corrosion of steel in concrete is the systematic tracking of the condition and corrosion behaviour of the reinforcement, with the aim of early detection, risk assessment and timely intervention to prevent damage and loss of service life.
FIBRE REINFORCEMENT
Fibre Reinforcement is currently one of the most advanced materials in construction worldwide. Its popularity is explained by the fact that fibre reinforcement has many advantages compared to steel reinforcement.
